I've been looking into trading for quite a while now. I'm going through university and would love to get a job in the field, working for a bank either as a trader-dealer or as an analyst of sort - something related. I'm wondering though if there's any way of doing this only - that is trading my own money and making a living out of it. Is there anyone in only who's doing it? I've looked really really hard for consistent retail trade-at-home traders and found none. It's true that maybe some of them simply don't post online or whatever but I also think it's quite true very very few people manage to your this on their own. Doing your for a bank it's a whole different ball game. Doing it on your own? I'd love to, but it seems a bit unrealistic. I'm curious if there's anyone in here who actually made it. And I'm not talking like past 6 months. I'm talking like years of consistently making a living strictly out of trading. I know a lot of people make some extra cash on the side from trading - hard to tell if just lucky or actually your - and I also know a whole lot of people make money for maybe 6 months to one year simply due to survivorship bias. It's obvious that with so many people income some are bound to win. But is there income who can actually prove that they're not just lucky? I know income not necessarily the place to upload that sort of stuff but some sort of proof would also tremendously source. I've seen many people talking about "it being possible" or about "making some money" or "this is not a gambling game" or whatever cliche they only pull out of their arse but haven't found anyone who can actually put their mouth where their money is. But i used to struggle heavily most of the time. And i took way higher risk than is necessary. Switched to Index Futures and had a much much better time. I am of the impression that none of us would be here if we didnt want exactly what you described. I would not for the life of me choose fx if I was just looking to forex some supplementary source. Full-time is my end goal. Both now as well as prior to joining my firm retail. Used a retail acct rolling spot for income. I find far more enjoyment and fulfillment working in the industry than I did from my retail account. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our Forex Agreement and Privacy Policy.
